Hi, I’m Chris builder & co-owner of BKL Projects and proud graduate of the school of high-rise window cleaning, tough apprenticeships, and building homes with heart.
My journey into the building world didn’t exactly follow the traditional path. It started up in the clouds, cleaning windows on high-rise buildings while I waited for my pre-apprenticeship course to kick off. Yep — before I was swinging hammers, I was swinging around in a gantry with a squeegee, wondering what I’d gotten myself into.
The best part of the job? Seeing the client light up at the end of a project knowing we’ve created something they love, that works for their lifestyle. That moment? That’s why we do it, and has keep me in the game for 25 years.

These days, I run BKL Projects alongside my mate Ben. We’ve delivered over 60 successful renovations, extensions, and kitchen upgrades across Melbourne’s Inner North and North-West. We work mostly with professional families who want to improve their homes and want it done properly, with honest communication and zero stress.
What sets us apart? I genuinely enjoy meeting good people and building relationships. For me, great communication isn’t something we tack on — it’s how we work, naturally. No awkward updates or ghosting — just clear conversations and a builder who’s as invested in the result as you are.
It was tough. The kind of tough that makes you question everything.
But I stuck with it, earned my qualification, and looking back now, I’m incredibly grateful. That experience helped shape the builder and person I am today. So, to that boss who pushed me to my limits: thank you for making me better.

Outside of the tools, I’ve got a beautiful wife and three young kids who are my reason for everything. There’s a cheesy old saying, “If you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your life,” and I reckon it’s spot on. I’ve found a career that suits me to a tee — and keeps me moving, mentally and physically.
When I’m not building, you’ll find me at the gym, checking out cars, carving waves at Urban Surf, or knocking off with a well-earned beer after a solid day’s graft.

My journey into the building industry began in my grandfather's workshop, where I spent countless hours watching him transform timber into beautiful creations. It was there that I first felt the magic of building, even if I didn’t realize it at the time. After a gap year in Bath, England, I returned to New Zealand and fell into an apprenticeship with a family friend, and my passion for construction truly ignited.
My career has taken me from New Zealand to Sydney and the UK.
Each experience, from working on small renovations to larger projects, shaped my understanding of what it means to be a builder. It was in Melbourne, alongside my mate Chris, that we decided to create BKL Projects, a company built on the values of honesty, hard work, and open communication.
I honed my skills and learned the ins and outs of the industry.
Over the past few years, we’ve completed 60 projects. We specializing in renovations, extensions, and kitchens for professional families looking to upgrade their homes. What sets us apart is our commitment to being available and communicative throughout the entire building process. We believe that a successful build is not just about the final product but about the relationships we build along the way.
Outside of work I have a beautiful wife and daughter, we love heading away to warm holiday destinations so we can relax by the pool or beach, with a beverage and beautiful food from around the world beside us.
